Combating The Global Flu
Pandemic
Threat?
According to a study released January
26, 2006 by the World Economic Forum it states: "The global threat that
most preoccupies the world’s business leaders is the deadly H5N1 bird
flu virus". Even more then terrorism and we all know the
impact that can have on the economy.
The H5N1 bird flu strain has ravaged poultry stocks in Asia since 2003
and recently spread to Europe through migratory birds. World health
authorities fear the disease could mutate into a form that spreads
easily from person-to-person, sparking a flu pandemic that could kill
millions of people.
“If the avian flu H5N1 virus mutates to
enable human-to-human transmission, it may disrupt our global society
and economy in an unprecedented way,” said the 22-page risk study,
which was released by a panel of companies and experts.
"Unlike the normal human flu, where the
virus is predominantly in the upper respiratory tract so you get a
runny nose, sore throat, the H5N1 virus seems to go directly deep into
the lungs so it goes down into the lung tissue and causes severe
pneumonia," says Dr. Malik Peiris, the scientist who first discovered
the so-called SARS virus, which killed 700 people and drew worldwide
attention.
Like most flu viruses, this form
started in wild birds — such as geese, ducks and swans — in Asia.
"They die of a pneumonia, just like people," says William Karesh, the
lead veterinarian for the Wildlife Conservation Society. "When you
open them up, you do a post-mortem exam. Their lungs are full of fluid
and blood." Karesh has been tracking this strain for the last several
years as it has gained strength, spreading from wild birds to chickens
to humans.
To date, there have been 60+ confirmed
human deaths and other suspected cases. Scientists say the humans who
have died or been diagnosed with the bird flu most likely contracted
it by coming into close contact with an infected bird.. Most
vulnerable are the very young and old and those with weaken immune
systems.
How To Defend Against It
When the viruses mutate to
the point that they are passed on person-to-person they will be spread
by air borne particulate or personal contact which would still be
inhaled through an air borne delivery. Preventative measures at
that point would be isolation from normal activities, strengthening
your immune system through Nutritional Supplements and making sure you
have plenty of purified air and water. Businesses and Home
Owners have already starting taking measures to combat the air borne
distribution. The environment in most work places has less the
suitable ventilation and particulate removal capability and these
spaces are susceptible to the spread of these viruses. Most
Health Insurance Companies have recommended to CEO's of large
corporate offices to make it policy for employees to stay at home
while they fight a flu infection verses coming to the work place and
spreading the contamination. Many Daycares now turn away
children suspected of having the flu.
Your Weapons
Many companies are laying claim that
they have products that KILL the Bird Flu. The most effective
way to combat air borne viruses is to reduce or eliminate the air
borne particulates. Our
products are proven with years of use and real world applications.
When the SARS virus was a major concern, our representatives in China
worked with the Chinese government and tested our technology.
This testing proved positive that the technology could help contain
the SARS virus by making a kill at the source. This is
accomplished with a blend of technologies to render viruses ineffective or eliminated.
Combining high intensity UVX light with a specially developed rare
metal hydrophilic coating on an engineered matrix, Radiant Catalytic
Ionization (RCI™) reduces airborne microbes, contaminants, and odors
while creating super oxide ions and hydro-peroxides. These products of
our Advanced Oxidation Process continue working to reduce more odors
and VOC’s, and to attack micro-organisms.
Most air purifiers
require the contaminant to actually enter the purifier. With our
technology the oxidizers are distributed throughout the room and
spaces through various products. With
this in mind and our success with mold, VOC's, bacteria and odors, we
started looking for a way to test common "microbials" or "germs".
This recent testing conducted by Kansas State University resulted in a
White Paper with results even greater than we had
anticipated. Additional testing is being done at the University of
Cincinnati. We are currently awaiting peer reviewed
studies of this
White Paper to support the claims. This technology exists in
products for both commercial and residential applications.
